We are casting an award Winning Jazz Band’s Music Video which will be part of a trio of Music videos, each filmed in a different city , different countries that all come together to make up a short film. It will be a piece of striking imagery and symbolism with a cinematic feel with movement and rhythm – a celebration of culture.
We are looking for distinctive faces that feel like early 2000s London. . Every face should tell a story.
Talent Requirements: All talents must be 16+ and based in London. Talents will need to make their own way to set for the shoot. The shoot is likely to be 11-11pm.
Roles: Please read thoroughly
Rebecca (Hero) (Female, Transgender – female, 17 years – 21 years, Black-African) -Second generation Nigerian in London, her personality is bold, stylish, grounded, attitude with dept.She balances heritage with UK youth culture. Quiet tension with her mum. On the floor she is the magnet. Confident, unbothered, electric.
Should feel familiar but distinct. Her face holds quiet confidence. She’s comfortable in her body and knows how to move.
Dance ability: Must be able to dance well — not polished choreography, but real, authentic skank and groove.
Jay (HERO) (Male, Transgender – male, 17 years – 21 years)-
London/South London teen. Black-African, Black-Caribbean
Keen to hear from people of Ghanaian or Caribbean heritage
Quiet confidence, a bit nostalgic, reflective under the surface
Coming of age. Tries to fit in with the clothes and the attitude. Faces real danger. Learns to step back, drop bravado, and stand on something deeper. A real boy from ends. Swagger in movement, but with depth in the eyes. Charisma more than muscle.
Dance ability: Doesn’t need to be a dancer, but must know how to hold rhythm, nod with intention, bounce to a beat.
Rebecca’s Friend (Female, Transgender – female, 17 years – 21 years)- DANCE EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Black-African, Black-Caribbean, Black-Other Areas, Mixed Race
London born. Playful, hype energy, confident, cheeky, knows the sceneTeases and coaches Rebecca while they get ready. Brings humor & warmth. Expressive dancer. Often more extroverted than Rebecca.
Dance ability: Strong dancer, playful and reactive.
MIKE (Male, Transgender – male, 17 years – 21 years)- Black-African, Black-Caribbean, Black-Other Areas. Jay’s best friend, same energy. Loyal, impulsive, reactive, the hotter head. Shows the fragility of pride. Quick to defend. Jay pulls him back. Realises pride can cost lives.
Dance ability: Doesn’t need to be a dancer, but must know how to hold rhythm, nod with intention, bounce to a beat.
REBECCA’S MUM (Female, 40 years – 50 years)
Nigerian. Worn, reflective, holding her daughter and her past in tension. She doesn’t say much, but says everything.
Deeply familiar to the community. Her stillness by the window is symbolic of mothers across the diaspora.
CORNER BOYS / Roadmen / Man breaking into car (Male, Transgender – male, Non-Binary, 18 years – 21 years)-Any ethnicity
London, street smart, fashion forward. Intimidating, observant, entitled, keep it real not caricature.Add passive threat and tension.
